Farenheit 9/11 Reaction
After watching the beginning of the film, I wonder how America collectively could vote for such a dullard as George Bush for President, especially for a second term. He read a children's book after he was informed of a serious terrorist attack, as opposed to taking initiative to prevent further damage-- That isn't what a responsible President is typically supposed to do, to say the least. I assumed that his actions, or lack thereof, would earn him an impeachment, but clearly that wasnt the case. What did the people of the Senate and House make of Bush's apathetic approach to the attacks? Was it sincere forgiveness not to impeach, or indifference?

America did not elect Bush the senate did. America actually had a majority for Gore. Even though Bush wasn't ideal he still did somethings right. Moore trashed him by saying he was stalling when he found out about the second plane but, he was actually showing calmness to keep people from panic. He might have taken awhile to act but, wouldn't you want to find out what all the options are before you make a decision?
ReplyDeleteI comletely agree with what Matt said. Why didn't Bush and his administration take action sooner? He was in a position of power, and chose to do nothing with it. Any one that watched this film would probably end up disliking Bush. It put him in a very bad light, but none of what Michael Moore said was untrue. America was under attack, and he just sat there in the childrens classroom reading. Maybe he was just in shock? The movie made it look like he had a part in 911. Like Bush helped plan it, or was involved with the Biladins. Especially when the film talked about how after 911 he didn't want any investigating done.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agree with Matt, I think that Michael Moore made sure that he spun his film, Farenheit 9/11, to be against President Bush. Although there are a lot of things that Bush could have done better, such as not being so economically involved with the Bin Ladin family and actually doing something in response to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centers, he was still our president and deserves to have some light shed on his side of the situation. I do not agree with how President Bush responded to his attacks and his presidential term in general but this movie is very bias toward one side. I think that the facts in this movie are true but I also think that there were other things going on that made President Bush do the things that he did. There is no determining who is right between Michael Moore and Christopher Hitchens but each side has a right to interpret, in their own ways, the actions and reasons behind President Bush's actions.
