911 thoughts
I think that September 11th, 2001 (9/11) has impacted our lives a lot. 9/11 has greatly impacted the way we travel and increased the fear and paranoia when we travel. Because of 9/11, airport security has increased tremendously. Along with the security increasing, paranoia has increased and if there wasn't such tight security, most people would not feel comfortable or safe flying on a plane. The movie On Native Soil really shed light on the events of that day and the confusion in the government. What scares me the most about that day was that our government had the ability to potentially save more lives but were too unorganized to do so. Also, when the movie shows how the flight personal were still looking for the plane that had already crashed into the first World Trade Center building, it made me feel unsafe for all the other flights I had been on prior to that. If they can lose a plane so easily, how is it possible that they wouldn't do it again? 9/11 has definitely been the reason to upgrade technology in airports and increase the communication between government officials and airport personal. Hopefully this kind of event never happens again but if it does, the airlines should be more prepared.

I agree with what your saying. America's paranoia is pointless. Ever since 9/11 every flight has atleast one air marshall on it. Plus the boost of secuerity should make you more comfortable knowing that no one can get on a plane with something that can harm you or others. The new technology and trainning that FAA officials must now know has boosted there ability to react in a situation similar to that dreadful day.
ReplyDeleteI share your thoughts about 9/11, it likely could have been prevented somewhat, but because of the lack of communication, the attack was carried out almost completely without interruption. The FAA was laid back, and didn't seem to care if the military knew about the hijacked planes in the air. It kind of makes me wonder whether the staff of the FAA were in on it or just lighting up a fat one at headquarters.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember much about life before 911, but I see the affects it had on America in my everyday life. Watching On Native Soil taught me a lot I had no idea about. I think it's crazy how poor the communnication was during the hyjacking and attacks. They definitely could have been stopped. The precedues that should have been taken weren't. They ignored critical information and were anything but efficient. Watching the security videos from the airport of the hyjacking making it through security is astonishing. They didn't follow security procedure. This clearly affected our lives because current security is high quality and effective, as needed. The amount of lives lost is tragic. I can't imagine how someone could ever want to hurt that many people.
