  1. Gender stereotypes are typically true in my opinion. Girls are usually weaker, shorter, more emotional, and boys are tough, strong, and bigger. Of course it isn't ALWAYS true. Our culture definitely makes a typical boy and girl unrealistic as well in my opinion. Females should typically be super skinny, tan, have curves and nice hair. They're supposed to be into fashion and Barbies and cooking. Males on the other hand are supposed to be buff and strong with photo shopped abs... Ha. They're supposed to like sports and violent video games. Social media, the web, magazines and more all provoke these stereotypes too. To what extent? I guess it depends. But most male/female messages follow stereoytpes, or do stereotype.

  2. I agree with you. The gender stereotypes that exsist have to be based on something or else they wouldn't. Men are usually stronger and bigger and women are normally smaller and weaker. This doesn't mean that all men and women fit those descriptions. Them media still enhances the stereotypes but they have done better recently with leveling the playing field with certain things. Such as in the movie "the Proposal" where the boss is a woman and the lower employee is a man. This is just one example of how some of these stereotypes are being beaten.

  3. I almost completely agree, typical stereotypes are true for the most part but I haven't ever seen a guy actually photoshop their abs ,that's a dumb thing to do because when they take their shirt off in front of a girl they'll look phony. I always knew doing something like that would backfire, which is why I can't understand other men using photoshop. Other than that everything is spot on, media does nothing to steer away from stereotypes, in fact, its base gernerally is the stereotypes that the majority of Americans follow.

  5. I agree with Maddie. I think that the media puts a lot of pressure on women to be that perfect airbrushed skinny model. Also, women have always been looked upon as the weaker gender who put alot of pressure on themselves to be perfect. But I don't think that only women have that desire to strive for perfection. There is also the image of the perfect man that mens magazines portray. Those men are the 6'2, tan, fit, flawless skinned men that no one can accurately live up to. The main reason why women are deemed as week is the fact that they show their emotions. Men could be just as insecure as women but they would never dream of telling someone their insecurities incase they were told that they were weak, or weird. But, if women showed that they were strong, they would be called even worse names. With gender stereotypes, no one wins. Someone will always try to bring the other gender down.
